Our meat is raised regeneratively on pasture for nutrient density and exceptional performance from Michelin kitchens to your home

In Our Family From Day One

founded by alex and emily on our historic farm in gettysburg

Alex Bates and his wife, Emily, founded Chapel Ford Farm in 2020 on 40 acres of family owned farm land in the historic town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. A graduate of Virginia Tech, Alex honed his passion for regenerative livestock farming while learning from some of the best farms on the east coast. With a vision to serve the surrounding community with nutrient dense, exceptional quality lamb, chicken, and turkey, Chapel Ford Farm has grown to offer full USDA processing on farm and partners with some of the most renowned chefs in the area, but our principles remain the same today as when we started.

Regenerative & Beyond Organic Practices

Farming for the long term health of our herd and soil

At Chapel Ford Farm, we are committed to raising animals using pasture based systems that put resiliency before efficiency. Our approach prioritizes soil health, biodiversity, and animal welfare as interconnected outcomes of thoughtful stewardship. We believe truly good food begins with healthy ecosystems, which is why we focus on rotational grazing, living soils, and handle our animals as stress free as possible.

Every decision—from grazing density to pasture management—is made with an eye toward long term resilience of the land and the animals it supports. Our commitment is ensuring that our land remains productive, humane, and environmentally sound for generations to come.

Pasture Raised Means Superior Nutrition

Regenerative farming produces food that renews human health

At Chapel Ford Farm, our pasture raised systems produce meat with higher nutrient density, healthier fat profiles, and cleaner inputs—outcomes supported by research and consistently observed in practice. We believe raising animals on pasture goes beyond more humane handling and better soil health - studies have shown that meat from animals raised on pasture, with access to a diverse, fresh diet, sunlight, and clean air is directly impactful for human health.

Compared to the conventionally raised chicken that makes up 99% of poultry sold in the US, studies have found that animals raised in regenerative, pasture based systems have as much as 2.3X healthy omega-3s (and lower omega-6), higher protein, collagen, and iron, and more antioxidants.  At Chapel Ford, we aim to raise meat that is better for you, bite for bite, ensuring our animals eat a diverse diet packed with nutrients and free of additives like GMOs and antibiotics. Exceptional Flavor & Culinary Performance

The highest standards of taste and texture in every bite

The exceptional flavor and texture of our chicken, lamb, and turkey is where our values are proven on your plate. Chapel Ford Farm’s lamb and chicken are trusted by Michelin starred chefs in DC’s best restaurants because they deliver consistency, balance, and performance at the highest culinary level.

Stand out flavor is never an accident. It is the result of genetics, pasture quality, animal handling, butchering by human hands, and our deep respect for the craft of cooking. The standard we uphold for our pasture raised meat to perform reliably in professional kitchens, where there is no room for inconsistency or compromise, is the standard we uphold for the chicken, lamb, and turkey we send to your home.
